Horsepower Rating for 222Fisherman

Hello, I own a 1985 222 fisherman walkaround,curious if anyone knows the rated outboard horsepower for this vessel? Looking at a 4 stroke 225 which is heavier than your 2 strokes. I am not concerned so much of weight but thrust may be a issue.I have not located the plate that recommends horsepower for this hull.[/color]

My 84 CCP is rated at 230hp and an 86 222FF is rated at 240.
Gotta guess between those two will work fine for your 85.

 This is very helpful. Can you tell me where your rating plate is located on your 222FF. I am not home and unable to check mine but i'll be back in a week and hopefully i'll be able to find the plate.I don't recall seeing one any place conspicuous.

Capt. Rick will have to chime in on the FF but on my CCP, it is located on the left side of the center console to the left of the wheel.

It's where I found the 86 FF rating.

I believe the deep-V 22 footers, including the 222 Family Fisherman (FF or Cuddy), 222 Express Fisherman (XF or Walk Around Cuddy), and 222 CCP all were rated for 245 HP through most of the 1980s.  This allowed for either a big single (lots of ads with 235 Rudes on them) or twin 115s or 120s.

Semi-V 222s, like the Osprey, were rated for 230 HP.

Just went out and looked at the plate - 245.

Thanks Capt Bob, That is very helpful,as I checked my plate and the HP rating is faded and unreadable. This boat is a 222 EXPRESS FISHERMAN.
