First Let me say hello to all board members
My name is Bertram
I am from Va beach Va
and have been a long time fan of aquasport boats.
I have owned several 1985 17 osprey
1974 22 dads boat
and Now preparing to venture into a new project a 1974 19-6
a little about the boat
its been sitting for a little more than 4 years and has all the classic Aquasport issues.
Soft spots all over floor , transom looks good and feels solid but it does have a crack across the outer-shell
other than that it seems fine
the price is only 600 bucks for boat and trailer which in my opinion is a good deal
my plan is to redo the floor and stringers if needed, rework the transom and modify it by adding 5 inches to it to support a 25 inch motor simply because it will be used in the ocean on good days and also to reduce water coming across the transom. I currently have a 200 Yamaha that I was planning to install but it seems pretty large for this project but after looking at some of the board member boats i noticed that there are a few members with 200's on them
I would like to know what you guys think and you input or any other issues I should or should not consider
Thanks in advance
Bert

Welcome Bertram!
It's nice to have another 19-6 owner on the forum!
I've done a good bit of work to my 1973 19-6 over the past two years. I was blessed with a solid floor, so I have not run into that issue yet, but another member on this board (luv2flycessna) is almost done with a deck rebuild on his 19-6:

I rebuilt and raised the transom on my 19-6, and like yours, it was solid to begin with so I just built up around it:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3737&p=23270#p23270
A transom rebuild like this should give you a solid 10yrs of use before needing any attention again (fingers crossed).
I have 140hp Suzuki on my transom, which is about as heavy as 200hp 2 stroke. Make sure you have scuppers installed because these boats weren't the best when it comes to self bailing.
Good luck on the rebuild. This site is full of good folks full of Aquasport info...
