front canvas on an osprey
« on: February 22, 2009, 08:00:37 AM »
I bought a 80's 19'6 osprey in Nov. It came with a front canvas complete with poles. The previous owner said it got in the way and was never used. All the mounting hardware on the hull has been removed over the years. I have somewhat an idea how to mount it but would like to see some pictures..Also what was its purpose ? Maybe an old brochure?   Thanks  Butch

This spring I plan to get an estimate on a bow dodger similar to the one love2fish posted, but probably without the side windows.  And it will be  for an Osprey 200 (19'6").  My daughters would like to have a place to get out of the sun and take a nap since they do not fish all the time.

If anyone knows a ball park cost for having a dodger like this made, I would appreciate a reply.  I will need to have the aluminum bows fabricated, too.  I know quality canvas work is not cheap, but would like to hear anyone's estimate of what I should expect to pay.  Thanks.

having windows on the side might be nice for ventilation while anchored, you could always have them install zippers so the sides can be removed or installed whenever needed.  Also along the cockpit edge of the dodger you might want a zipper installed so you can add a wall to enclose the bow area if you ever want to sleep on the boat.
