Hey everyone, I just found this site and wanted to say hi!

I have owned my Aquasport Explorer 225 since August of 2004 when she showed up on a truck from Florida wrapped up like a Christmas present, and have been enjoying it ever since then.

As soon as the gallery allows pictures to be posted, I will get some of the boat up.

Welcome aboard nice to see a fellow explorer owner we are sought of outnumbered here.My boat is a 2000 275 explorer its in the gallerythey are from when I got it in 2008 did a few improvments since but cant post until gallery is fixed.

I will likely have a lot of questions for you and will put a list together in the near future.

The first one I want to ask right now is that I am looking at re-powering with twin engines and want to know if my transom needs to be modified in any way to accept twins or do you think twins would be a bad idea for my Explorer?

Twin 150s would be great on your Explorer, and she was built to handle them.  See that little molded in depression on the starboard side swim platform that "kinda" flows into the splashwell?  That is for steering cylinder clearance when she got a twin engine option.

What motor do you have now?

Yamaha 225 four stroke.

My transom is kid of shaped like this   ----------________________________/----------, is this what you are talking about?

Sorry, but this a "my bad" on this one.  I forgot (hey, it's only been 9 years!) that on the 225, we used a splashwell mount cylinder.  It was the 250 that had the relief for the more traditional front mount cylinder.  If you do go with twins, you'll probably want to remove the transom cut-out trim, glass in a hunk of wood in the cut-out to bring the transom back up to it's original height, and cap it off with a piece of 1/8" L-angle aluminum.  25" shafts for the motors.  The drawback to a splashwell mount cylinder is that it is an "un-balanced" cylinder, and most autopilots don't work with them.  I don't think that would bother you though. :wink:
