Ideas for an Anchor Locker on a 19-6...

I want to add some kind of anchor locker to my 19-6.  Did these boats ever come stock with an anchor locker?  If so, does anyone have any pics of one?

I know that right under the very front of the bow, there is the ventilation intake that runs the length of the boat, but I have been told that boatbuilders have since figured out that such a complex ventilation system is unnecessary as long as you have the gas tank vent hooked up, which I know I do.  Is this true?  If so, I'd like to use the space under the bow for an anchor locker...  I don't like the wet rope and anchor being stored along with the life jackets and everything else.  Makes everything wet and nasty.

My Seacraft has some clips on the bow that actually clip the anchor in place, and it had a simple hole cut with a canvas snap-on cover to conceal the rope... I think that might work too, but I'd rather the anchor not sit on the bow because I know I'll end up stubbing my toe on it.

Any ideas?

My 19-6 has a place for the storage of the anchor under the bow of the boat where the ventilation area is. I will post some Pics later of it for ya, Work's quite well.

It's no problem, whenever you get a chance is fine.  I'm still shaving 35 years of bottom paint off my hull right now, so the anchor locker project is still a few weeks away.

I wish I could say I was busy; the only thing I've been busy with is watching the economy slow down...

Thanks for the pics Cessna.  Looks like it's just a little cutout under the bow to store it in.  That would work.

Question:  Is it difficult to reach under the bow to pull the anchor out?  Seems like it might be.

I'm thinking what I'm going to do is cut a rectangular hole on top of the bow and put a lid in its place so it would be easier to get the anchor in and out.  Do you think an anchor would fit completely inside the space under the bow?  Looks like yours is hanging out a little bit.  Is that so it's easier to get to, or does it just not fit completely inside the space?

Do you have any pictures of the area you are talking about? Maybe once you cut out a hatch on for access from the cap, you can put some sort of "hook" for the anchor to hang from. Here's an idea that I'd like to do on my boat, looks like you could make it out of 3/4" starboard and bolt it to the liner wall on the bow.
Once you have the access hatch opened up, you could just drop your anchor line and anchor down to the hanger and be good to go, maybe come up with some sort of bucket or shelf (that had a slotted bottom for drainage) to keep all the rope together.  Also, if you put a hatch  on the cap, your probably going to want to put some sort of notch for the unused line to pass through so you dont have a cracked open hatch.
