Engine Rebuild
« on: July 12, 2008, 07:39:34 PM »
Anybody know of a good Mercury mechanic/machine shop in the Miami or Homestead Florida area or anywhere in the state? I'm looking to rebuild/restore the original 1987 90 hp Mariner that came with my 17ft Aquasport. The motor needs repainted also.

Try Ron at Viking Marine: http://www.vikingmarine.com

He has a home down in Miami but lives up here in Lake County most of the time.

He has an old, cluttered shop in his backyard that he runs his business out of but he's a good mechanic and will stand behind his work. His specialty is rebuilding and selling old outboards....

I had him replace the stator, power packs and voltage regulator ( I supplied the parts ) this spring on my '90 Mariner 150 and he charged me $120.00. He is reasonable.

I'll bet you could easily hookup with him; as he goes to Miami frequently to check on his property, etc. His shop used to be down there.

Not anywhere near you, but these guys have an excellent in-house rebuild/repaint operation...

www.almarsoutboards.net

Their rebuilds come out looking like new, running like new and carry a 3-year warranty (declining I believe).
