New AS owner
« on: May 27, 2008, 01:41:59 AM »
Hi y'all.  Just picked up an Aquasport that I saw was being discussed in the chum section.  I suppose it could be called a 1981 SR 188 Center Rider.  Or maybe Bow Console.  Whatever it is, it works well.  I think years ago someone converted it from a bowrider to a CC and did a good job at it.  Only thing that I really need to do is paint the deck.  I'm going to order some paint from boatdeckliners.com (no, this is not a plug...lol) as that's about the only thing that I could find that would be fast and easy for a home job on getting non-skid flooring.  Is there anything else out there that might be cheaper ($100 per gallon)?   For a first boat, I like this thing!  Also, I can't find any information on the SR's.  Can anyone point me in a direction that might have some info?  Thanks!

Congratulations! I'm sure that you'll receive tons of comments from the experts, in the very near future. Don't forget to post some pics, as soon as possible. Good Luck!

You could always try this - real easy and it's definitely non-skid.

Welcome to the site!  The SR was for Sport Rider, and that would probably fit your boat as well as any description.

Durabak has a great reputation, but is around $100/gal.

Thanks for the link.  I checked them out and they are about $20 more than that other brand, but I'm not sure where the other brand can be bought so it might be moot.  Here are some new pics:

Congrats on the new AS

I really like your boat.... A center console with bow seating and with a real deep V.  I hope you enjoy it a lot.

Thanks Miguel.  I dig the two tone on your boat, too.  Yeah, it seems like a mish-mash but if I had the opportunity to build a boat, those are the features I'd try to incorporate (well, that is unless I had an unlimited budget...lol).  I mainly like to cruise in deeper water so the deep-V is what I needed.  Go out to the barrier islands and hang out/fish.  The bayous and marshes here aren't too bad until I get in deep.  But I don't plan to do that.
