The MUSHY hatch turns out to be an empty compartment designed to hold more fuel or water. Don't know how I can use it so I built a cube out of aluminum angle for support and intend to just "Button it up for good".
should I drill a hole in the bottom for drainage in case I get leakage in the future?
Comment: The extra compartment was for the optional gas tank. I would drill a small hole in the bottom rear - just in case condensation or ???? builds up...
What's the skinny on aluminum vs plastic for gas tanks.
Comment: Aluminum is OEM and can be custom built; plastic is usually cheaper and won't corrode, but may harden and crack over time. I replaced mine with an aluminum like the original 'cuz I could not find an 85 gallon plastic replacement and wanted to keep at least that capacity. Phil at Alloy did a great job and shipped in in at week for $650.
Does anyone know if the 246 FF has one or two bilge pumps? can find the aft one but not the one that's supposed to be amidships. The control panel has two switches but the lead to the second pump was cripmed off????
Comment: The front pump was an option; probably not installed on your boat. If would be under the deck plate near the center of the boat.
Rewiring is about to start, we were looking at all the goodies in Boaters Wolrd. Should be done in a month or so, depending on my mans availability.
The new name has been put on and the new Pacific Blue Bimini is installed and looking pretty spiffy, indeed. Pictures will follow shortly
You should dig it Rick!
OK, where's the boat porn? We need pix!
See ya on the water!
