Engine recommendations for a 22-2 flatback

I'm looking at purchasing a 22-2 flatback (hull only) and was curious to know what folks would recommend powering this hull with. It will be put on a porta bracket or Bob's jack plate. I'd be purchasing a brand new engine (had my share of problems with used power and would prefer spending the extra for new power with warranty).
Looking for that nice balance between speed/performance and economy. My biggest concern is the weight difference between the 2 and 4 stroke engines. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Most FBs I have seen are powered with either a 150 or 175. I know Bill Miller put a 200 Opti on his and likes it, but his boat sits a little low in the water too.
Personally I was looking for either a 2.5L Merc Opti (up to 175hp) or a 2.9L Suzu (also to 175hp). The Suzuki is obviously a 4 stroke, but only weighs 50lbs more than the Merc. I had also looked at Etecs - but they wanted some high $$$ for them. Locally I can get service on any of the three.
I happened to find a great deal on a 150 Suzu, so I bought it. So maybe narrow it down to two or three motors and go shopping. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Where in Tampa do you boat? I'm on the Hillsborough River south of Hillsborough Ave.

I'm looking at buying a boat that is already refurbished. I'd just have to have it rigged with power, guages, steering, etc... I will post pics if the deal goes through.
I've also looked at the weights on all the various engines. Looks like ETEC 150-200hp is the lightest at 427lbs. Mercury ProXS 175 is a close second at 431 lbs. The Suzuki 150-200hp 4 stroke is the lightest 4 stroke at 485 lbs.
I suppose that with a forward mounted gas tank and batteries in the center console that some of the weight of the engine could be offset. I'm going to try to find someone that would be willing to take me for a spin in this type of boat before I open up the wallet to take on this project.
Thanks again for your input.
