Cracked hull on 1984 CC Osprey 222
« on: February 12, 2008, 11:04:45 AM »
I have a crack in the hull of my 1984 CC Osprey 222. It's looks like it is on the left edge of where the gas tank is. Could it be a broken stringer? The crack is about 3 ft long. I'm assuming that I need to take out the tower, CC, seat/baitwell. Cut the floor and remove the gas tank. I'm pretty handy, but not a boat builder. Is it something that I can do with some help and how long should it take?

Need some pics please - does the crack run along the chine, or is it perpendicular to the hull line?

If you are reasonable skilled in other facets - you should be able to complete this.  Take a look at the rebuilds here and on Classic Mako - both sites have guys doing similar things.

How long it takes depends on your schedule.  I took mine down to the bare hull and will have two years into when I am done (ugh).  If it's a delam crack and does not involve the stringers, you might only be into it for a month or two.
