Painting below the waterline.

I have been rebulding my transom and I am actually getting to the point where I am planning the painting.

The outside of the transom has been repaired, coated and faired with epoxy resin. I will be painting it with Interlux Perfection since I understand it is not a good idea to gelcoat epoxy.

This paint is not recomended for use under the water line. I will be using antifouling paint under the waterline but do I need to coat the epoxy resin with something before I apply the antifouling paint?

Just painted my console with Interlux Perfection. I like it a lot but I haven't used any other marine paints before, so I don't have anything to compare it too.

I'm faced with the same question as you - what to use for bottom paint.  Don't know for sure but I suspect the bottom paint will have a primer coat that will seal up the epoxy.

Just don\'t know which summer.

After some research I think I will use Interlux Epoxy Barrier-Kote. (INT 404414).

This paint should seal all water out of the new epoxy and glass. Then I'll cover it with antifouling paint.
