I read this note from boatus and it got me wondering about the future if any that aquasport might have. Are they really done
FOREVER
? They must make a come back.
If this has already been talked about sorry for the repeat but im a newbie. lol
Here is the note from the boatus.com site which im sure most all have seen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(NOTE FROM MFG: Aquasport has stopped production for the 2006 model year to evaluate the
repositioning
of the brand. The brand will be re-introduced back into the market at a later date that has yet to be determined.)

If the Aquasport brand does go back into production, I hope they go back to building the boats that put them on the map in the first place.

I agree with Jim. I'm afraid that for now they are lost inside a corporate giant that will be hard pressed to find a niche for the AS brand.

Just a suspicion in the back of my noggin, but I'd bet there may be some folks from Genmar peeking in at this site. If so, they've gotten an earful about how great the old boats are... especially in comparison to all the look-a-likes being made nowadays.

amen. I knew this topic would start a little fire. If enough people know and talk about the name it would be foolish not to bring the good ol AS back into action.

Existing hulls, caps & liners can be used to make molds. The hard part's already done for them.

I can't remember where, but sometime around the first of the year I read that Genmar was indeed thinking of bringing Aquasport back. BUT they were going to angle the new model(s) toward cruising instead of fishing. Golly knows there aren't enough of those on the market.......

It will be interesting to see how Genmar positions the Aquasport brand. It could fail miserably if they are not careful especially if they want to make cruisers...
