Leaning Posts and Console Covers......
« on: August 06, 2007, 06:13:06 PM »
First off wassup everyone its been awhile since I've last posted....been out enjoyng the boat and all you know.

But this fall and next spring I am planning on putting in a leaning post or swingseat and replacing the two chairs I have in the mako now since I dont use them. Any recomendations? Leaning posts look cool with the rods placed in the back and all but I like the idea of a swingseat becuase I get more storage underneath it and it will cover up the holes i have to resin from the chairs.

Next question, I need a console cover. Any reccomendations where to get one round the South Shore? If anyone has one for sale also lemme know.

Lastly, I'd like to somehow mount a ski pylon in the boat....has any one done this on a mako or aquasport before? How do you go about mounting it? If anyone has pictures those woul dbe fantastic.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Hola... long time no see!  (or talk, chat, ?)   8)

Check these out... had one on a fish-and-ski back in my childhood days:

Or check out the whaler project on Classicmako, courtesy of Mr. Raybo.  He just mounted a semi-permanent towbar.

As far as a leaning post, may I suggest something like this:

I have found that the swingseats, while versatile, are not as substantial offshore when you actually need to "lean" on them.  Good luck!

This is what I replaced my swingback with.  It made a huge difference.

i had a console cover made a few seasons ago by a furniture upholsterer in nyc a few years ago. I DID have my old cover for him to use as a template, but it came out perfect and was well worth the $300 i spent.
If you do find someone like that to do it i would suggest 2 things, they would have to measure(or u could provide a few pictures w/ exact measurements), but 1st don't get too bright a color as they do get dirty, and 2nd go w/ a draw string on the base instead of snaps, good luck
