Battery cable question.
« on: April 24, 2007, 09:30:13 AM »
I have a 19'6. The cables from the outboard to the battery seem very long. The dual battery storage is forward of the console. Should I run a continuous line from the motor to the battery or use the shorter cables and mount a block somewhere on the gunwhale? 2 gauge? Any help is much appreciated.

I would not introduce another splice in the line unless absolutely necessary. If you need to shorten the cables, do it at the batteries or a/b switch.  2g is good.

go from point a to point b non stop. Less things can go wrong that way.

I would run one length.  Budget wise it will be about the same cost if you use a commercial block to connect the leads but one length will be much less chance for trouble.
