I will agree they are hell in following seas and is does funnel water over the transom. Also I ran my boat without them for a while while I was rebuilding the tops and it ran faster. They do put drag on the boat and slowed her up a bit but after using the boat for a few years I would still keep them on. I like the livewell and extra storage, keeps the boat clutter free.

Hmm, I've never run the boat without them.  I have noticed once in a while the tops of them are awash but I can't recall water getting dumped on the deck as a result.

I know my boat doesn't need any help bringing water over the back.  Not much above the water in the back at where the motor mounts, maybe 8 inches?.
