Johnson 235
« on: May 02, 2007, 01:46:52 PM »
I have a 1984 235 Johnson outboard. I was wondering how good these old motors were. From what I can tell is that there were made from the old v4 block type. They just added two more holes on top an came up with the v6. It's a small motor compared to my 200 or the 175.  any thought would be helpfull

thanks

Well, there's a little more to it than that but basically, you're close. The crossflow design was OMC's mainstay for years and was very good technology. Lots of things are different about the loopers including size. The loopers make gobs of torque. Newer technology.
