Anybody have a real world comparison of these two outboards on similar boats, more recent versions of the two seems like anything over 10 years old is very different than the current models.
The Merc 115 Pro XS with Command Thrust lower unit, not the standard model.
Displacement is 2.06 L, puts out a tested 126 hp, and peak torque of 166 N-m at 3500 RPM, and the Mercury is about 45 lbs lighter.
Suzuki's 140 displacement is 2.04 L, tested 140 hp, and peak torque of 168 N-m at 4500 RPM.
Power seems so close, I like that the Merc hits peak torque lower in the range for a better hole shot, the way I run isn't about top speed but more 20 - 30 mph cruising, stop & go throughout the trip. This will be on an older 19-6, around 1800 lbs rigged.
