1983 20' CC repower
« on: August 31, 2023, 08:47:57 AM »
I am looking to purchase a 83 20' CC for my 2018 Etec 150HO.   I believe I read that the max HP is 185, what I am concerned with is the weight, the Etec 150HO weighs approximately 550lbs which is 100lbs heavier hen my old 96 175 Merc I had on my old boat and it dropped the scuppers below the water line when docked which was is not a good thing.  The one I am looking at purchasing supposedly had a 225 Yamaha which is about the same weight.  I've owned Mako's, Grady's, Winners and most recently a Trophy. I have limited knowledge of Aquasports and looking for a little advise if its worth purchasing or should I look for somethjng bigger like a 22.
Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You're aware of the capabilities of the Osprey and a 20 ft boat is easy to handle by yourself both towing and launching.
The Osprey models: https://classicaquasport.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=11626&title=80scatalogosprey&cat=739

Here is another option, the Center Console Professional.  The stringers are deep and the deadrise is greater but it still comes in a 20ft boat.
