I recently purchased a 2000 Aquasport Osprey Sport 215 Dual Console boat. I could use some help figuring out how people use the bow pulpit and proper anchoring techniques. The boat has a bow pulpit and a small spring hinged opening for the anchor line to go in and out of the locker below.  It is very hard to get the line back into the  locker when pulling up the anchor. I had to pull the achor up lay the line on the deck and then after neal down and stuff the line through the opening 5 inches ant a time.  How do you guys make this work for you?

I have no experience with a DC pulpit. Someone will be along soon to help. Any pics of the problem area?

I just bought the same boat, and can't for the life of me figure out this anchoring system.
Have you had any luck?

The pulpit on your boat looks like the one on my 230 Explorer. IMO it was made for a "Plow" type anchor. Lays in real nice.

I tried a Danforth and it about beat the pulpit to death.

As for the Hawse Pipe for the anchor rode I always layed all the rode on the deck, secured the anchor then washed off the rode. I then opened the cover on the hawse pipe with my foot and held it open as I dropped all the rode into the lock. Worked for me.

Then I decided to make it easy and installed a windlass. I cut an oblong hole next to the hawse pipe and installed the windlass. I re-routed the rode and chain through the windlass - life is good.

Thanks Rick
I think your right about the plow anchor as there was one on the boat when i bought the boat.
The guy i bought the boat from swapped it out for a danforth without me knowing. (real slimeball move)
Still it seems an inconvenient way to anchor up.

Why does it seem that way?

Thank you for all of the information.  The plow definitely looks like it fits better than the one I have.  It just is not conveinent for the heave-ho chuck method I am used to.  Now its just anchors down.

Did you get a plow?  You can get them from surplus marine places. If you have an anchor pulpit, it's really the best way to go. The model I got was from a surplus place and isn't made anymore  :03: Just make sure you use stainless wire to lace all the connection points (harbor freight). I didn't and lost the first of the plows I bought from them, luckily found the last one they had and negotiated a good deal.
