1996 225 Explorer Re-Power
« on: February 14, 2022, 03:09:39 PM »
Seriously considering having my 225 Explorer Re-powered with a Suzuki 250AP.  Was curious if anyone else has done similar.  My concern is I'm pretty sure that the Suzuki is taller that the 250 Etec I had on it and with the Euro Transom, will I have enough room to raise it out of the water without hitting the bulkhead in the stern of the boat.

If it is an issue I would most likely have to get a jack plate that would extend it out enough to clear and at the same time have some room for height adjustments.  That would be no big deal but it would be great to get some feedback from anyone that has done the same thing and any issues that you may have experienced.

My only input is that I have a jackplate on my 210 Explorer and I love it.  Frees up some room on the back deck and nice to be able to lift the motor when needed and for storage.

Thanks for the reply.  What size engine do you have on the 210 and is it a stationary, manual, or a hydraulic jack plate?

I put a 2020 Suzuki DF250 on a 2001 225 Osprey. No problems with the tile and Ero transom. Great motors, you'll love it. Good luck

Thanks for the replies. Got lucky and found a new Suzuki 250AP which is Fly by Wire.  Engine is on the Boat and ready to go.  Can't wait to use it!
