Removed fuel tank access floor panel today to inspect original 1983 fuel tank and almost dropped a nut. My panel is really heavy, guessing 80+/- lbs. Thinking its waterlogged, unless the factory built these panels out of Durock.

shouldn't be much heavier than an equivalent sized piece of 5/8 plywood, I'd bet the glass & gelcoat are about 10 lbs.

I remember mine wasn't light... but not that heavy. Water gets in thru the screw holes. You know if the core was wet. Try drilling a hole into the core from the bottom. Pay attention to the saw dust.
