I really like the 275 with outboards! Great boat with lots of room and even a decent size cuddy. Going from 225s to 200s may not even be noticeable. Many engine manufacturers only change the RPM or ECU map to get different HP out of the same engine. BUT - there can be a BIG difference when the block size changes - for example the current Yammie 225 is a 4.2L V6, and the 200 is a 2.8L I4. No way that 200 is close to the 225! There is no replacement for displacement and what looks like 25HP difference is a lot more than that in these motors. But the 225, 250, and even 300 are all built on the same 4.2L block and you would have a hard time telling the difference in the 225, 250, and 300 on most boats without looking at the cowl.
Yamaha made the 3.1L V6 in 200, 225, and 250. Same situation, but some earlier 200 and 225 models had carbs vs. fuel injection.
Hope this helps - good luck!
