Self bailing deck set up and hatch gutters, How to?
« on: July 31, 2020, 02:33:53 PM »
Hello all! Just bought a classic Aquasport to rebuild. I have done some fiberglass work before but I’m no pro! I’m doing the tear out right now and will start a post once I get moving along. I have been looking at a lot of posts and trying to figure out some things for the future. I would like to know how you guys did your self bailing decks with photos. I already know the deck needs to be higher than the water line for proper drainage. My reference is to how you made yours look, everyone has their own style and way of doing things. If you could, could you post some pictures of how you set up your self bailing deck drains and plumbing set up.

Also where can I get hatch gutters and hatches that I can fiberglass in or screw in for that matter. Any directions on how to make a mold perhaps? I just wanna do a really good job and I hate getting water in my hatches, the last boat that I restored had those dumb screw in hatches from Marine Surplus in Sarasota FL, and they sucked! I don’t wanna go that route again if I can help it.

All, I look forward to getting started and sharing with you all. Thanks for all your help in advance, I appreciate it.

Welcome aboard Sam.  :welcome01:  There is a logo top center on every page that will take you to a vendor that specializes in hatch/gutter combos. Here is a link to a discussion in his forum here. https://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=15545.msg151642#msg151642

As for getting people to repost what they already posted, it would be easier to go to the rebuild forums and go through a bunch of them - every one is different.  If you can search and find rebuilds by dirtwheelsFL, he does a very nice job and each one is different. Click on Forums on the top bar and scroll down to the rebuilds sectioln and if yours is an Osprey model, there is an Osprey forum with sub forums for a lot if not all the Osprey models. If you have a 196, look at the 196 and also look in the 222 and 170.
