Took her out yesterday
« on: November 25, 2006, 02:32:41 PM »
Day after Thanskgiving, while every one makes a mad dash for shopping, I was very happy to be on the boat, out Port Everglades inlet - my first time out on this boat. Seas were maybe 1 to 2, not a lot of boats out, so the inlet was pretty mild. I was going maybe 12 to 15 mph - I forgot to bring my GPS - through the inlet, out maybe 2 to 3 miles, then back. The engine sounded good through out the trip, no stalling, no hiccups, no unusual noises. She does slam because of her fairly flat bottom, but if I hit the waves on an angle, she does not slam as much. Overall, a good trip, now I know I can take her out there. It was around 70 degrees, not a lot of wind. Got back by 11:00 am, took a shower, and went to work by 2:00pm. AWESOME! P.S. Boat is a 1972 22-2 AS with  a '92 Mercury V-6 200 hp 2.5ltr.

Best place to be on these insane "shopping days" is on the boat, away from the crowd.  You and Rick both doing sea trials... the fleet is growing!

Did you launch & haul by yourself?

I have the boat in the water behind my house, so I don't have to worry about hauling in and out. I do have a trailer for her parked beside my house. I've had the boat out 10 times since I got her a month ago. So every time I take her out, my confidence in her bringing me back home is growing. I have a permanent smile on my face when I take her out. Easy to handle, 25 gal tank, no engine problems, knock on wood, she's been great. We're going to the beach tomorrow, and the forecast is around 70's, with light winds. Right now (Saturday) I'm at work, but I'm also at peace knowing tomorrow is a beach day. Life is good. PS I use a semi stiff brush to clean her bottom when we're at the beach.

Jeez... what a set-up! Boat right near the house.  Aside from "H" season, you Fl guys have it made.

Sounds like you had a nice day Blue.
BTW - if you edit your profile, you can add a signature to your posts and in that, you could add your boat description.

Thanks JimCT and RickK! I just added my signature with my boats' description. I'm at work right now - emergency call for an hour - and then I'll be home to take the wife out on the big one - Formula. I asked her about taking the Aquasport to the beach, but she said she did not feel like going to the beach. So we're taking the Formula cruising down the river to the intracoastal, stop by Las Olas for a coffee, and then back home.

Ahhh, Las Olas.
Good coffee and watch the sidewalk scenery walk by.
