Help With Windhield Color For 1970 222 Flatback
« on: October 30, 2019, 05:41:09 PM »
Anyone know what color the original windshield was for a 1970, 222 Flatback?
I am unsure about the original color but like the coke bottle green and clear blue from UDP. Also is the 1/4" windshield ok or is there an advantage to buying the 3/8"? Thanks for any help

By the early eighties they were bronze.  I think clear looks the most contemporary.  In the seventies maybe they were avocado green or sunset orange, no that was the fridge.   :scrHead: The originals were 1/4, but 3/8” is better in every way.

They were clear through the 1970s.  The bronze tint started in the 1980-1981 model year when the Open Fisherman became the Osprey.

3/8 will hold up better and is way more crack resistant than 1/4.  The windshield shape on these is very simple - flat piece with a bend on each end.  You could DIY...

I have coke bottle green on mine and like you prefer the look of tinted style. But I have to say I am switching to clear because “for me” when cruising at night it is difficult to see through the tint when you need to get behind the windshield to avoid getting pelted by bugs. Fish flys in particular in my area. Cheers T
