Cruise Craft.......really an Aquasport??
« on: June 08, 2020, 02:16:26 PM »
Hello All!

I have an interesting situation!

I purchased a boat 2 years ago with the understanding
It was a 1975 17ft Cruise Craft (Coast guard plate, Vin#, Title, Registration) all say the same! I found very limited
information related to this company, but found out it was
sued by Chris Craft and forced out of business. The rights
were sold to an Australian company that still uses the name but the boats look nothing like ours!

Anyway after much comparisons, I have come to the conclusion this is an Aquasport 170! With the "Main"
difference being the "inner hull" has no cutouts!

I've got to figure out how to load my photos 1st!

Has anyone heard of these???

Get a close up of the capacity plate. Where does it say where the hull was built? It may not. What is the HIN?
This will tell us what it is.

As far as looking like an Aqua, Anglers look like Aquas too but they're not.

I would say it is a '72 or '73 170 that has been rebadged.  In '72 they started notching the aft corners of the liner for the cleat but I think the '72 had a single lid in the casting deck. So it looks like maybe they bought 170s with full liner to allow them to be modified the way they wanted them.  Usually Aquasport cut out the sides of the liner to hang fishing rods.

Well that looks like some sort of HIN. It's not an Aquasport HIN.

The plate(s) I'm referencing can be seen in the left corner of the photo of the console.
