Advice for buying restored 222
« on: March 19, 2019, 09:05:13 AM »
I have always wanted to own a completely restored 222 and I have fished out of a few over the past years.  I was just looking for some generic advice on what to look for when buying a already restored 222.   Anything would be appreciated.

Nothing beats documentation and pictures of the build. We've seen many very well done builds on this site by companies and private individuals and some real hyped junk. Do you have one in mind you are looking at?
1973 Aquasport 22-2, twin 115 Mercs
2000 Baycraft 175 flats boat, 60 Bigfoot Merc
1968 Boston Whaler 13, 25 Yamaha (project)
1966 Orlando Clipper 13, 9.9 Merc

Sweet, thanks! I will definitely go through this bible.

So, I am looking at a couple of boats, but one of them doesn't have a link and is being sold word of mouth.  The other one is here, https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa/d/vero-beach-cobia-fishing-machine/6805041594.html.  My plan is to go see the boat with a buddy that knows a lot more than I do and has owned an rebuilt Aquasport in the past.  If all looks good, I would be getting a survey before buying for insurance reasons.

Photos look good.  If it checks out, it would be an awesome platform for Cobia, beach tarpon and kings to.  Can you find out anything about the company that rebuilt her, Anchorsaweigh?
