I am looking to install a stereo and speakers on my 05 explorer 225. Would like some ideas of best location for radio and speaker placement. I do have a hard to so that's and option and cutting in speakers by the light .  Please post your pics and ideas .   also are they prewired for stereos? if so where ?

My '92 230 Explorer came with a stereo system installed - the stereo is installed in the cabin, port side, attached to the underside of the core that makes the walk around on that side. I replaced the VHF radio in the pic and moved it to the helm where the throttle controls are.  The stereo (darker device) is still as is in the picture.

The speakers were installed in the rod storage area on each side of the boat - everything still works so I have not done anything to the system.

In my 210 (your hull without the Euro transom) they are located here (on each side)


I was able to remove the panels above so access is very easy and there is an abundance of room for mounting just about any type speaker.

I'll keep searching for pics.

I think my hull was pre wired for it. When I removed the cover behind the steering in the cuddy there are a bunch of wires that are not,connected. Do you know where the factory speaker location are? May thet have speaker wires going there. Also does anyone have the color code know what all those numbers on the wires mean? Thanks dave
