Pictures of my baby - 1972 AS 22-2 Center Console

I posted 10 pictures in the Member's Galleries under "bluedolphin". Pictures are labled "Aquasport_11 to 17, 8_10". She's the one everyone was talking about 2 weeks ago - she was on eBay. 1992 Mercury 200 hp with new power head. Solid deck and transom. Garmin fishfinder, VHF with DSC, compass, 1500 gph Rule bilge pump, 2 batteries, nav lights. Seller asking $4k, got it down to $3500, after sea trial. Title now in my name. Comes with a single axle trailer. I've posted a few questions about my baby - fuel tank sender not connected, bilge pump with no auto float, bilge pump suddenly stopped working, grinding noise when changing gears, towing vehicle, trailer maintenance. Fuel tank sender and bilge pump with auto float now working fine. Grinding noise now almost non-existent. I've got my eye on a 2000 F150 4x4 5.7 V8 for towing. And I've received lots of suggestions to maintain the trailer. Thanks. Let me know what you think of my new baby. I hope I did not pay too much for her. In the background of one of the pictures, you can see my other vessel - 1985 31' Formula PC - with 2 x 454's straight inboards. It's for sale - it takes too much time to prepare to go out in it, with just me and the Admiral, and just as much time to close her up when we get home. She's in excellent running condition. If anyone's interested, she can be yours for $18.5k - a bargain.

One question - were you unscrewing the console or are those screws ripped out?  What made me replace my floor is that the screws gave way, probably from people hanging onto the console in rough waves and eventually it ripped all the screws loose.  Hopefully you were doing maintenance on that wood at the base of the console.

Looks like the original helm seat - has the same metal guides on the side that I cut off of mine (kept banging my shins on them)

Thanks, RickK! Yup, she looks mighty fine. Screws at the base of the console - I was doing some wiring and I had to run them under the console. I just have not tightened them all. Like you said, I'm going to have to do something about the wood used as a base under the console - they're starting to break up. I will probably use starboard. What did you use? The open area under the shifter is now covered, so the wires won't be visible. I'm still trying to clean up all the loose wires - I noticed a lot of them not connected to anything. But all in good time. The one thing I made sure to do was to hook up the one (and only) 1500 gph Rule Pump at the stern to an automatic float switch. Now I sleep well at night knowing it will come on when it rains and fills up the bilge. I'm still trying to figure out how to put one in the bow or middle/console area. Any ideas? I have 3 of them in my other boat, all of them 1500 gph Rule's, and all with automatic float switches. Thanks.

When I redid my floor, because of the pulled out screws, I built up another layer of the floor the outline of the console, beveled at 45 degrees, and glassed it in.  That gave me more wood to screw into and now the console is rock solid. This pic was taken when I redid the non-skid not too long ago, but you can see the extra layer around the gas tank.

I don't know if they build them up on the newer boats - anyone have any input on this?

Being that you leave her in the water, I definitely would have bilge pumps/float switch in the bilge. My question would be how is the water getting from the top side into the bilge?

Thanks, RickK! I might do something similar for my console screws. As far as bilge water, there's a well (running the width of the stern, anout 2 to 3 inches deep and 4 inches wide) just in front of the outboard with the holes in the transom to ship out the water. These holes are plugged permanently because they're under the water line. There's a 2 inch hole on the floor of that well that allows the rain water to get into the bilge.
