Outboard bracket offset, and mounting height

My fixed bracket (floatation chamber style) has a 30" setback and is going on my 22-2. I am getting an absolute pile of conflicting information all over the internet. I see a pretty common figure of 1" height increase for each 12" of setback. But I am also seeing figures even doubling that one. I am hoping the Aquasport gurus can shed a little light on this one for me  I have my new bracket in hand, and am laying out the transom knees and my bracket mounting holes so everything can clear easily. I wanted to mock everything up, but I don't want to guess at things and put any extra holes in my brand new transom. I just want to get it right the first time.

The instructions that came with my Armstrong (30” setback w flotation)  bracket said to mount the platform at 23”.  The flange for motor mounting extends above the platform by about 5”.  I can check this measurement when I work on the boat tomorrow.  If it’s 4 1/2” that would match the 1” per foot figure. 

Did you have your bracket built for you? or did you find a used one?  If bought used and the bracket isn’t an exact match for your transom angle, any change of angle would effectively raise or lower the motor.  If you bought new, I’d be inclined to follow the manufacture,s Instructions.

I had this one built up here. The shipping from the big bracket manufacturers down there was a pretty big consideration, and I wanted diamond plate on top. I drew it up assuming a 3" rise at 30", and they built it to my drawings.

You might try to reach out to Que Pasa. He just finished a rebuild and did a bracket. If you look at his page you can see how good it looks.
Not sure how much time he has running the boat but he could give you some feedback for sure.

Hey Funsmith.  I was working on the boat today, so I measured my bracket.  The flange for motor mounting is 4 1/2” above the platform.  Armstrong wants the platform mounted at 23”’ so that would be 2” to get the motor up to 25” plus 2 1/2 for the setback.  That matches the 1” for each 12” of setback formula.

Thank you for checking for me. That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Things are starting to move again on my 22-2, the sun came out enough to wear a t-shirt this weekend for the first time in months.
