Today's the day, if you've been watching the tracks and hoping it would just go away (like 15 million people here have) - it ain't going away - time to batten everything down. I haven't had to put up shutters since 2004, time to dust them off.
Stay smart and safe everyone.

They are predicting a landfall close to where I live
The tracks have been all over the place - east then west. I spent 10 hours today getting the shutters up, putting everything away and getting the boats tucked away. Everything, business-wise, is closed today - time to hunker down. Have the libations ready for the hurricane party

Glad to hear our Florida folks are OK! Irma's now here in the Carolinas - heavy rain and 30-40 wind for the next 6 hours or so... Looks like it's going to be a flooding situation here. Charleston and Columbia are getting hammered. Atlanta looks to get a TON of rain - the storm is moving very slowly now, and there is less space for all that water as you move west...

Wow, it was rough here. I'm sure the members that were down south near Marco can fill us in on the devastation there - hopefully all is well.
For us in Sarasota, my wife said, and others too, that it was the most stressful thing they've been through. We were very blessed that the storm dove into land at Marco as it started to die then and when it got to us it was a CAT2 instead of a CAT4 like it was when it came ashore.
We took a beating as far as power poles/trees down and a ton of debris on the roads but overall, it wasn't too bad. I haven't heard of any deaths in our area - we set local records for # of shelters open and the # of people in those shelters. Like 25000 people in Sarasota alone. Wow.
Anyway, we dodged the bullet and I hope the people upstream of the storm are going to be ok.

We're doing fine here, we lost power around 930pm yesterday, and got the generator going to keep the fridge cold. Stopped by the marina to inspect for any damages, just a few ripped Bimini tops
