1975 222 Project
« on: July 31, 2017, 12:32:18 AM »
Finally found her and found her close to home! 1975 222. Took delivery on her about 2 weeks ago and this weekend was the first to really tear into it. Plan is to take out the inboard, transom mount and outboard, have the appropriate fiberglass repair/recondition done, mid-tower. Started by taking out the fuel tank, parting out the motor, exhaust pipes, bilge pumps, rudder and took a whack at the drive shaft but couldn't the prop or the collar, that bolts to the motor, off. Those dang keys they use were giving me a hard time. If anyone has any advice on DIY work that can be done to keep costs down or any project advice in general, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I would first before i turned any wrenches, spray every bolt nut and fastener down with pb blaster or kroil. Let it sit for a few hours and hit it again. Do this a day or two before your planned work. Those two penetrates will eat the corrosion and rust the best and give you a little less headache
