76 22-2 Transom pour
« on: June 09, 2015, 04:27:47 PM »
Hi all long time lurker, first time cutting into my oldest girl. Transom had the cap separating for years but I kept her sealed up with 4200 every year, now needing a new motor I might as well do the transom. Already own a 25" replacement Merc but don't really want to do the closed in porta bracket thing. Has anyone just made a taller version of the factory transom? What was the layup? Kind of stuck on going with nida pour as my floor has been redone already and I dug most of the wood out of the core last weekend.
Here she is 3 or so years ago, all I've changed is putting the original seat back in.

Been awhile but back at it. Have all the wood mostly out. Used my chainsaw, which as a former sawyer was actually kind of fun. Now slogging away with the drill. One question I have is what to do about the bilge drain. How do you guys seal this area for the pour. My only access to the interior side is through a pie plate in the deck.

I put a temporary patch of fiberglass on the bilge drain, before I poured seacast in my transom.

I wish I could find a 22-2 or a 19-6 in Sweden. I might have the only Aquasport here for what I know.

Good luck with your pour.

Any pics of the pour? I'm hoping to do the same but interested how to deal with the scupper holes and bilge drain
