adding fluid to trim control
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:34:35 AM »
Maybe I'm over thinking this, but how do I add fluid to the trim control of my 1979 22-2 FF.  It has a merc v175.  The trim control is inside the gunwall and hard to get at.  Do I use a rubber tube to fill it?  Thanks.

are you talking about engine trim or trim tabs?

That vintage merc used an external trim/tilt pump.  Mine was in the baitwell before I pulled it out and sold the motor.  Unfortunately I didn't take a good look at the pump.

It's not a specific Aquasport item, so you may get a faster response from The Hull Truth or similar general boating site.

Good luck.

I'm talking about the motor trim.  It is accesable through a round acces hole.  I can feel around and find the fill and vent screws.  I'm just not sure how to get the oil in to it, or how to know how much to add.
