How well will a 200 hp perform

Well the factory listed it at 3600 lbs. and a max HP of 250 so the next question is "how well do you want it to perform"? If you are looking for top speed then max out the HP but a 200/225 will still move the boat along. If you take a quick glance at the "Official Explorer Registry" in the Discussion forum you see several 225 EXs with 200 2 strokes.

A 2 stroke V6 200 should be fine on that boat.  Like Rick said, a lot of these boats were delivered with 200 outboards.  As would some of the newer, lighter 200 HP 4-strokes, like the new Suzuki 4-cylinder 200.  A 3 liter V6 will give you plenty of torque and top end - you may need to experiment a bit with props.  Are you looking to buy a new mota, or go with pre-owned?

200 HP V6 two stroke is what the standard option was. A 200 HP in line four cylinder four stroke might not be enough torque for that hull. I know of a 225 powered by a 225 Etec that performs very well.

Almost no difference between the 200 and 225 Ocean Runners.  Both a loop charged V-6 design.  They have a reputation for being very solid motors, but drink a good deal of gas and oil compared to more modern 2-stroke motors.
