Clarion CMD5 Replacement???

Hi Everyone,

My Boat (2004 AquaSport 215 DC) came with a CMD5 that is working fine except for two missing buttons and that I feel it's a little bit outdated, I have a 4 speakers set up and would like to have USB input, what would you guys recommend as a upgrade without braking braking the bank and taking into consideration that I already have a cutout for a double din unit?

If memory serves (I was a clarion marine repair center) that CMD5 is a single din cutout.  I have a newer clarion single din, the one with one knob that operates all the controls and I do not recommend it.  I wish it just had regular buttons.. Maybe check out the kenwood stuff, its well made also like your older clarion.  The new clarion stuff is not as durable for marine use.

Steer clear of the Kenwood stuff.  They may say marine on them but all they are is automotive units with a very poor conformal coating on the pc boards.  I had two of them fail in just a few months.  A few drops of water and they are done.

The Jensen units are nice if you can find one.

But the Fusion units are by far one of the best true marine radios I have owned so far.  Get one with at least bluetooth... or if you want N2K.  I have mine linked to my Lowrance network and I love being able to control the unit from my plotter while at the helm.
