196 Aquaport

I am new to the forum and in the process of rebuilding a 1972 196.  Has anyone closed the transom and mounted a swim platform bracket on one this size?  I am curious to know if there were any issues, porpoising, weight displacement problems, etc.  Thanks, Bart

 Check out Blue Agave's boat.  He has a 196, enclosed transom, Armstrong bracket and a Mercury 150.  It's a sweet boat.

You will need to move weight forward. I moved my fuel cell up approximately 2 feet. I recommend that batteries are under console and that the livewell is not on the transom. I recommend trim tabs, a must on all boats, and a stern lifting prop.
