Tach replacement
«
on:

Hello - I am currently replacing all gauges on my 200 XF . The tach has no markings on the case and the wires are soldered. The wire colors are black (soldered to gnd), grey (soldered to sig) and pink (soldered to B+). Would it be correct to connected PINK (B+) to the IGN post and the GREY (SIG) to the SEND post on the new (Teleflex) gauge?
Thanks for your help.

That sounds correct to me. Ign is purple on my 1987 170 but that is how the tach works. POS and NEG and an AC signal from the motor.

I agree.
On a Johnson , the gray lead is your ac signal. I also remember the ign wire as purple but maybe it's faded. Still, I haven't wired up an OMC since 96
Good luck.

Thank you all for your help. Here are a few images off what I am working on. The old dash board cover was faded and cracked so I decided to remove the upper part and leave the lower part intact die to the fact that removal of that part would open a whole new can of beans. And it's not going to be black again
