Explorer: Front NAV lights opinion after Windlass install
« on: June 19, 2016, 08:24:35 PM »
I am installing a Windlass and I had to remove the default front NAV light. I bought these and was wondering if this is legal to install like I am showing:

Thanks,
Melo

Are they true top mount nav lights or are they just side mount models?  If they are true surface/top mounts they will have 112.5 degrees of viability.

Here are some rules to read:

They are side lights. What if I drop them down to the side under where I have them would that work?

If you mount them on the side, you would need to add a block of Starboard or so thing similar to make them vertical.  A simpler solution would be to return them and get some top mount side lights.  Something like this: http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/category/lighting/navigation/sidelights/two-mile

Awesome ... thats a simpler and easier idea. I will return them and use the same location with the correct lights.

Thanks for all the help.
