165 Striper Cooler seat in front of console
« on: February 08, 2016, 12:18:27 PM »
Greetings,

I've searched the forum and could only find info about the cooler seat for the helm.  I just bought a 1997 165 and the cooler seat in front of the center console was not there and would like to get a replacement that fits.  I saw in the manual that it is a 30 qt cooler.  Does anyone know the specific brand that was originally used?  Thanks!

Here is what I was thinking...

WelcomeChuck,  :salut2:
If you still have the base on the floor where the cooler sat (or even the shadow that showed where it used to be) I think I would measure and see what you can find to fit, regardless of the capacity.  Some of the coolers are tapered sides and some are straight.
If t here wasn't a base then I would measure the width of the console and it you can, and having a full width cooler in front of the console doesn't impede travel fore and aft, buy one that size.

After much research and deliberation I ended up getting a Pelican Cooler (http://www.pelican.com/us/en/product/outdoor-heavy-duty-coolers/elite-cooler/standard/35QT/).  I couldn't find a cooler that fit between the existing mounts - so I'll be moving them for the new cooler.  I can say with confidence... this will be the most expensive cooler I'll ever buy!  I bought it because I have some fat siblings and need a cooler I know can hold up to the weight!   ;-)
