Wet,Wet Wet
« on: January 26, 2016, 11:07:35 PM »
Well I was warned on here that they are a wet boat but I didn't realises how wet. We come back across Morton bay in about 15 to 18kn with following sea at about 3 foot not that bad and it was wet really wet. I didn't have the clears installed and we all got drenched. I was very disappointed after all the work I have put into it.  :a0002:
I will give it another run this time out offshore with some mates and have a play around with the trim tabs and trim more but if it dose not get any better I will need to see her and look for something better.
My mate has done a pod on a Bertram 25 and its only half finished with not top and only the low small widescreen and they didn't get wet running same speed beside me and seamed to ride a lot better, it is a bit bigger and heaver so I would have suspected it to ride better.

This is the videos I have put on YouTube on the way over in flat conditions/good conditions.

The best thing I bought for my Explorer was the full bimini and full wrap of eisenglass and screen.  When I take the boat out if there is a stiff breeze I put up the helm wrap (at a minimum) and then roll it up and strap it. If it gets so that I'm eating a little spray I unstrap and snap it in - now I have something to hide behind.

There are a lot of positives to the Explorer model, so I choose to defend against the only negative I've found.

Some owners have reported good results with Spray Rails...  Good discussion at THT:
