Pulling the cap. Osprey 175
« on: May 04, 2016, 05:30:25 PM »
Has anyone successfully pulled the whole cap from one of these boats in one piece? That is how I did the restore on my bass boat and it was super easy. It would allow us to replace the coring of the deck without having to touch the interior finished floor at all. I would think that you could get the main floor to release from the stringers from inside the gas tank well, but the front deck area seems tricky. This is just a curiosity. My boat is solid and I really have to plans to rip it apart. I was just wondering if this has been done on this style hull or not. After tearing my bass boat to pieces I look at hulls a bit differently now.

I have not seen a liner popped from an osprey.  We did have one member pop the cap from a family fisherman IIRC.

I wonder if it's possible without destroying it. I bet you could release the platform from the fish box from inside the fish box with a sawzall? The stringers from the main deck from the fuel tank hatch?

WOW! yup. That's exactly it. Very similar to my boat as far as construction goes. That is exactly how i did my bass boat except I had to cut a chunk out of the main floor to detach the stringers. In the case of this boat I could probably do a lot of that through the fuel tank hole. Thanks for finding this. When and If I decide to do it, it is good to know it is possible!
