Transporting T-Top
« on: December 02, 2015, 06:39:55 PM »
I'm looking for a little help here.
I've been  looking for a T-top and found one that t looks like it will fit perfectly on my Ospery 200My problem is the T-Top is 2 hours away. Has anyone ever put a T-top on the roof of an SUV or maybe stuck it in the back and let it hang out the tailgate? Here is a link to the craigslist so you can get a good look at it.

Any help or suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Only way to do that safely with a SUV would be, if the legs will fit in the rear, fold down the rear seats and get it in as far as possible, I would un-lash the top cover, roll it up and keep it inside the vehicle,, if the e-box is bolted in, un-bolt it and do the same, less wind resistance. I guess you could tie it on the roof rack if it has one, I would tie it very securely, front, back and both sides. Also removing the cover and e-box before putting it on the roof..Any buddies got a pickup or small trailer you could borrow..I brought mine home on a trailer( laid on its side) no cover or e-box on it. Tied down very well. It rode fine.

I strongly recommend removing the canvas....otherwise you could end up with what happened to mine at 65mph down the highway. Doh!

I recommend using a truck or getting/renting a small trailer. If the top isn't standing up or laying flat you effectively have a sailor you keep the canvas on. When I got my top it was about 1.5hr drive away with interstate driving. I put it in the bed of my ranger and ratchet strapped the hell out of it and drove very conservatively. It never budged.
