Perco battery switch, inside or outside?
« on: May 27, 2016, 12:50:14 PM »
I currently have my Perko switch mounted inside my center console and it's a pain in the sheephead to get to it. I thought about moving it forward, but if im going to drill ore holes under there, i was thinking about mounting it outside the CC. Has anyone done this? Is the risk of it being exposed to the elements a concern? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Well I would hesitate to mount it outside, exposed to the elements, if for no other reason than continued maintenance. Still, I've seen boats with batteries exposed on deck and some below with no cover.

You can always patch holes. They give a hull character.

Good luck. :thumright:

Boatoutfitters.com they make a nice little all in one compartment with battery switch.  Flush mount on outside with a door.

I had mine installed on the transom of my 170, exposed to the elements for many years with no problems.  I like FL196's idea better though.
