LED switch?
« on: September 22, 2015, 07:48:45 PM »
Just installed a LED nav light.  When switch is shut off, 2 of the small LED lights still stay illuminated.  Realizing that this light draws only 0.18 watts, could a leak in the switch not noticeable on a incandescent bulb be causing this?   Do I need a special LED switch?

I have never heard of a LED switch.  Did you try isolating the light and switch so that you have the switch, the LED light and the battery without any other circuitry?  The LEDs should come on only if the proper polarity is applied across the LED. You could be getting a leak back through something else.

Do a continuity test of the switch with an ohm meter and see if the switch is completely breaking the circuit when switched off. The circuit should be open when switched off. (No continuity) if there is any continuity at all, replace the switch. I have seen this happen if water somehow gets into the switch.
