Trying to clean up wiring on a 170 I picked up.... not sure where to start. I can handle the power and grounds that feed instruments and accessories but what do I do with the excess wire on the wire harnesses for the outboard? Do you guys cut the excess wire out and splice or do you leave the bundle rolled up and zip tied out of the way? Any pics of completed re-wire jobs would be greatly appreciated, it would help me find a starting point and give me some ideas.

Usually you don't want to cut the harness down because now you're making more places to fail (the splices) over time. Spend some time in the Electrical forum and learn what others have done -

Also a member on the site shows his skills in the Resource forum.
