Big Bad Blue Connector

I want to replace it ... what are the recommendations to do this?

Oh yeah, the big bad blue connector.  I replaced (removed) mine last year.  There is really no reason to have a removable connector there.  I cut mine out and crimped a butt connector where it used to be.  The wires are different sizes, so get a step down butt connector if you can.  And use some adhesive lined heat shrink tubing on the connection.  I like to use non-insulated connectors, or remove the insulation if I can't find non-insulated.  And make sure you slide the tubing on the wire before you crimp both ends of the connector.
