215 explorer 2 battery setup
« on: July 02, 2015, 11:35:58 PM »
I was wondering if its normally a single battery setup or is there room for a second battery? Probably a dumb question but was wondering. I only have one battery in mine and it appears to be a little small for a second battery. Oh almost forgot to mention that my battery is in the transom on the starboard side.

What year is the boat?  Does it have a euro transom?  My 2002 205 has the euro transom and only came with one battery, located where you describe.  It is a little tight, but I added a second battery in that location.  The one closest to the transom sits parallel to the transom, while the one closest to the access door sits parallel to the keel.  They are a bit of a pain to get in & out, and you need to take out the forward one to remove the back one.  But it works.

No,
The 215 EX doesn't have the Euro transom but.....

Here's a link to a member who added a second battery to a 215.

Here's a link where the same member upgraded for a switch to an ACR setup. The link takes you to his upgrade posts but the entire thread is worth reading on how he got to that point.

Good luck. :thumright:
