Good idea !
1) What tip size should be used for the primer and the paint (not explained in the spec sheets) and what pressure at the gun for us amateurs (it does give us product/min but .....)?
they do not give this because its only part of the equation, the same tip size in two different guns with two different pressures will result in different results. They give the amount of flow you need. You can put this paint on a little thicker than other topcoat
primer will need a slightly larger tip if you do not thin it.
Do you need thinner or not? This seems like a dumb question but the product is thin already.
Not much reducer needed for topcoat, I would say 10% minimum and you can go up to 25% if for some reason you need to (should never need to :))
If spraying the primer, then I would use reducer, just to reduce orange peel
How long do you need to wait to "abrade" it" if there are runs or other things?
thats on the tech sheet.
primer can be sanded as soon as its hard enough to not gum up your paper. 220 or 320 for the primer. If you let it get really hard (after a couple days) it takes a lot more effort to sand
paint needs to be sanded if its cured more than 12 hours (spec sheet says 16 hours), paint can be sanded with 320, anything lower will make scratches that will be visible through the next layers of paint
Cleanup - what should you use?
EMC has a wipe down and clean up solution. We know its a clean solvent with no contaminates, which is what you need. So many "problems" with paint can be tracked back to products used that are outside our control. The reason to supply a clean up solvent is not to make people buy another products from you
, but so that we can reduce unknowns
The product says it is "Buffable" - do you use any special product and do you use a specific grit compound at that time?
You can wet sand with anything from 600 to 2000, just depends how much you're trying to fix. After the runs or bugs are out, you buff with compound (3M is standard), then after that a buffing polish (again I have used the 3M)
