Boat Straps okay for lifting a 225 Osprey?
« on: May 13, 2015, 05:05:22 PM »
Hello everyone, hope all is well. I am in the process of installing a boat lift in my back yard on a canal. It is a Steel Top Structure on 4 pilings using two cross beams for the lift. The Center Pipe will hoist two Boat Straps spaced approximately 8' apart.
My concern is the hull, is it reinforced enough for straps? Does anyone else have a similar model (97' 225 Osprey) on boat straps as well? I am sure all will be well but was hoping someone here may have had experience putting theirs in a lift. I've read a lot about other boats bowing, etc. from straps.
I'm installing the lift myself by the way, if interested I'll post pics when finished and step by step instructions. When all is said and done I'll have saved over $1K in labor. It will be inspected when finished. Thanks for any and all help as always.

I'm no expert on slings but knowing how the AS are made and the stringers that are used, I can't imagine that a sling would hurt the hull at all.
